Santai Sungai di Kayuh D'Tonggang (siri ke-2) was successfully held on 3rd and 4th May 2025, with the participation of 23 individuals comprising youth, students (including international students), members of the public, and tourism operators from various states. This 2-day 1-night programme is part of an initiative to promote Kayuh D'Tonggang as a community-based ecotourism destination, particularly in the Orang Asli villages around RPS Ulu Kinta.

The programme is a project under Yayasan Hasanah and the Ministry of Finance Malaysia, in collaboration with JAKOA and the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) Perak.

A variety of exciting activities were organized to provide participants with a meaningful experience while introducing the cultural elements, natural surroundings, and traditional lifestyle of the local community. Also present was a representative from the Kinta District Health Office.

Among the main activities were demonstrations of snaring, weaving, and blowpipe shooting, showcasing the skills and indigenous knowledge still preserved by the Orang Asli community. These activities were not only entertaining but also gave participants an opportunity to understand traditional survival techniques passed down through generations.

Participants also explored the Nong Bercacip Jug trail, a path rich in fauna and historical significance to the local community. At night, the programme was enlivened by a cultural night featuring the Sewang dance, a traditional performance full of meaning and symbolism in the life of the Orang Asli community.

On the second day, participants joined a birdwatching session around the Sungai Seno’oi area to observe the diversity of local bird species. In addition, an open river learning session was conducted, focusing on river conservation, river monitoring, and the role of communities in sustainably managing natural resources.

Overall, the Programme not only served as a promotional platform for Kayuh D'Tonggang, but also successfully strengthened the bond between participants and the local community, while fostering awareness on the importance of cultural heritage and environmental conservation.
