Reprise Digital, the full-service integrated communications agency within the IPG Mediabrands network, held its first annual Reprise Community Day on 10th March, a day recognised for all Reprise APAC offices to close for volunteering efforts within local communities.
To honour the day, Reprise Malaysia chose to commit as “environmental heroes” by way of support for the environment through partnering with Global Environment Centre (GEC).
The Global Environment Centre was established in 1998 to work on environmental issues of global importance. The organisation is registered in Malaysia as a non-profit organisation but works regionally and internationally both directly and through partners, supporting information exchange and capacity building and undertaking strategic projects regionally.
Sujith Rao, Managing Director of Reprise said, “We are excited to have launched this new and important initiative based on one of our key pillars – Community. When deciding what our focus area would be for this inaugural day, we sought input from all members of the team. The resounding message was to support environmental causes in light of the pressing needs of global climate change.”
The Community Day activities began in early March with an internal fitness challenge which raised a total of RM2500 for the purchase of seedlings and planting tools to be given as donations to the local community, as well as additional donations to fund GEC’s rehabilitation and restoration activities.
On the main day, the team gathered for a clean-up, tree planting and greening at an identified location at the Klang Gate Dam – the start of the Klang River. This was selected to preserve the biodiversity stretch and to create an eco-trail for the people in the area.
Alongside this, the GEC team incorporated an element of learning and sharing of knowledge on river/biodiversity monitoring which included a biodiversity photography challenge to further cement Reprise knowledge as environmental heroes.
The upcoming activities for the year is for Reprise to reciprocate with the knowledge sharing through digital empowerment for the GEC team and local community through bespoke training programmes, mentorship, and an ‘Ask Reprise’ email help desk.
Dr. Kalithasan Kailasam, Manager of River Care Programme said, “As people around the globe look towards more sustainability practices, it is encouraging to see organisations in Malaysia taking steps towards championing the environment. The work we do wouldn’t be possible without the support of stakeholders and corporates, and we are pleased to have partnered with Reprise for their inaugural Community Day.”
Sujith added, “The team felt truly inspired in their roles as environmental heroes as they rallied together in support of the planned activities. A huge shout out to Global Environment Centre for their amazing and continued efforts to empower the community, protect our environment and keep our waterways clean.”
