KUALA TERENGGANU: Problems faced by fishermen due to the shallow estuary of Sungai Besut is about to end with a conservation project to be launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on April 16.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said the RM250mil project known as Gerbang Pelancongan Terengganu would benefit the tourism industry and local fishermen.
“The groundbreaking ceremony will be held in conjunction with the prime minister's working visit to Terengganu for two days from April 15, covering three districts, namely Kuala Nerus, Besut and Dungun.
“The project is among the government's pledges during the general election," he told reporters after dinner with media representatives and officials in the Office of the State Legislative Assembly, here.
Ahmad Razif said after Kuala Besut, the prime minister is scheduled to stop in Dungun to visit a former Dungun Wanita Umno division chief who is ill, before launching the 'Jom Bantu Rakyat' programme.
“On April 15, the prime minister will launch the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 500 units of People's Housing Project (PPR) at Bukit Nenas in Kuala Nerus,” he added. – Bernama
