MAINSTREAMING OF BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION INTO RIVER MANAGEMENT

Output 2: Best Management Practices for Critical Riverine Habitats are demonstrated at Key Sites of National Importance:

UPPER KLANG BASIN

 

Project Description:

The project focus on the Klang River and its tributaries as they enter the urban area, where some biodiversity values remain. It aims to integrate riverine biodiversity management into the planning and implementation of the any river management projects especially River of Life Public Outreach Programme (ROLPOP) sites including:

  1. Physical enhancement of riverine habitats
  2. Adoption of key river stretches by local communities
  3. Introduction of measures to help control alien invasive aquatic species

The areas are within the respective community groups as stated below:

  1. Pilot Site 1: Kg Taman Warisan until Taman Melawati (Sg Klang)
  2. Pilot Site 2: Rumah Pangsa AU2 (Sg Klang)
  3. Pilot Site 3: Perumahan Awam Seri Terengganu (Sg Gombak)
